I like how melee currently works, but i have some small and some big additions that could go into programming:


Fact:
if you hold A and D, you perform sideswipes while standing still

now, my problem is, if you hold A and D, you always perform left-sided-swipes, nomatter what key is pressed first / longer. please integrate into the system that I can do right-swipes and left-swipes while standing still, the key pressed first will determine which side is hit. (or the key pressed second, just generalise it)

also, I'd really really enjoy doing behind-my-back-hits when i'm walking backwards (holding only S)

we'd end up with the following beautiful scematic:

W - longtana while walking forward
S - backtana while moving backwards
->(increased casting time? double damage? blockbreaker?, anything possible)

D or A - Strafetana while strafing
D while A - doing strafetanas while standing still


also, sadly, due to a trick holding W and S at the same time, you can perform longtanas while standing still, therefore I see no reason to have shorttana beeing in the game at all, if you can trick the mechanics and just do longtana always.

W while S - doing longtana / backtana while standing still


I believe we have a great opportunity to increase the already state-of-the-art melee system of dystopia to even greater levels.

Backwards swinging seems pretty silly; why would you ever do it?

If you're holding both A and D it makes more sense to me to not swing sideways at all.

I see no reason to have shorttana beeing in the game at all, if you can trick the mechanics and just do longtana always.

It actually has a wider hull so it's easier to hit with (not that its hard to hit people with the longer one or anything)

you could make it hit through block, or I could destroy objects without facing it (thought this is already possible "to a certain degree" thanks to sideswipes).

but mostly, yes, just for the sake of style. Who doesnt like a finishing-type of move that is risky, yet useful?

also, I know that the AD-leftsided swipe was probably not intended, but ever since i discovered it, I liked it. I dont want you to remove it, I'd rather want you build upon it and make it possible to right-swipe as well while standing still.
