Installing HLDS with dystopia on windows

Postby Ghezus » Sat Sep 10, 2005 5:21 pm

1. Download HLDS update tool here

2. install it to a folder like c:/srcds

3. Now click on Start, Run and type cmd. Type in the commands mentioned here and end a line with the enter key.

Code: Select all
cd srcds

if you installed it to c:

The new version of HLDSUpdateTool will be downloaded now. As soon the cursor just blinks, press CTRL-C.

4. Now we have an HLDS update tool, we can start downloading the files. This can take a few hours depending on the connection the server uses.

Code: Select all
hldsupdatetool -command update -game hl2mp -dir C:\srcds

5. Now extract the dystopia server files (found in downloads section) to your srcds folder (c:/scrds)

6. Make a desktop icon with this link

Code: Select all
C:/srcds/srcds.exe -game dystopia -maxplayers 20 -console +map <mapname>

Add a autorestart script :

Code: Select all
@echo off
echo Source Hound Script
echo Protecting srcds from crashes...
echo If you want to close srcds and this script, close the srcds window and type Y depending on your language followed by Enter.
title Source Houd
echo (%time%) srcds started.
start /wait srcds.exe -console -game dystopia +map <mapname> +maxplayers 20
echo (%time%) WARNING: srcds closed or crashed, restarting.
goto srcds

Just open notepad past this in it, edit it to your settings and save it in your srcds folder as "sourcehound.bat" then start this to start your server. If the server crashes it will auto-restart.

Note: This is a tutorial i wrote a long time ago i just edited it to fit dystopia. View the orginal on my site (link in signature)
