I would be correct in assuming that those of us who have supporter status will get beta access?

I don't know if we will run a supporters only beta for the next Dystopia patch, it may not be likely.

Someone such as Seananners? He's been playing a few mods lately, though mostly the Hidden: Source.

By the way, is rubber banding going to be fixed?

If you're referring to the rubber banding of getting stuck on teammates, I'd LIKE for it to be fixed with soft collisions, but it's kind of a complicated thing (wouldn't change it for enemies, though). Although we have it in Blade Symphony now so I could probably figure out how to translate it over lol

Logged in for the first time in a very long time. Really would love to see the community rise up again in the Australia region, unfortunately despite a couple of attempts I haven't been able to revive it.

Really hoping something can come up that revs up the community!

Good god, let me help make this a reality in whatever way I can.

I will test, I will make maps, I will cast like I used to:

Round 1) https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=TkRIHjqLpsk
Round 2) https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=LwPpAAbgE2o

For Nothing.

Showmatch of the old popular players in Dys on the new maps mebs??

How is this big patch coming along anyway?

its coming along pretty good, it was held up for a while basically in limbo because we were stuck not knowing how to actually update the game via steam... but we've got a battle plan now thanks to the Empires guys lending us info about how they fixed the same problem

meanwhile the changelog is getting bigger and bigger, so at least there's that :p

Are there any plans for social media/video kinda things that some of us can help out in getting the game/hype out there?

Like I mentioned above, I'd really like to try and revive the Dystopia community in Australia (we had a lot of great players!) but I'm not sure of the content that I can link to people. There are some various videos that people have made out there, but official stuff tends to go down better. I'd offer to make some myself but content creation like that isn't really my area :(

it's a bit tricky, I'd love to do a video for hype and promotion but I pretty much can't get footage atm as it's just me and bots haha. Maybe after the patch is live I will dedicate a week to recording footage and throwing together a quick promo video from people playing.

Joker! Just mentioned your name when talking to a friend (Gerby, maybe you remember?) about the old community in Australia! Now you're reminded me of my Rocky trolling, bahahaha.

I'd like to try and get the community back together, we'll need to find a way to get a server up though, no Aus servers sucks :(

Are all the servers for Dystopia down? I haven't played in years, but I just built a new PC and thought it'd be fun to play the game again.

At any rate, looking forward to that new patch!

No there are a few up. Something did get broke with servers not showing up, which is to do with Valve/Steam. viewtopic.php?f=41&t=22058 It seems to have been fixed now though, so I don't know why you aren't seeing any servers.

Weird

I guess I'll wait for a PUG to start up and see if someone can invite me to the game.

Alright I've emailed iinet in hopes to get a Dystopia server up! Australian Dystopia players stay tuned!

Edit: 20/5

Just got an email back!

Code: Select all
Hi Liam,

I have placed a request for 2 new Dystopia servers to be deployed. Once they have been set up a new server will be allocated to you!

Great to hear about a new update! It has been ages since I last played Dystopia.

Regards,

Cas Bitton
Gaming Community Lead

Australian players get ready! :D

Also mods/devs if/when things get rolling on the next update if you'd like I'd be happy to tweet/post vids around to help out! Would really love to get the community back up and running here in Australia :D

We want to but it's basically up to valve in order for us to do it... that, or a lot of unnecessary work that will be made irrelevant when/if valve fixes it. :/

The "unnecessary work" involves either:
a) making a launcher to check that the user has source SDK installed and then mounting the required assets when running dystopia (Empires did this)
b) ripping out every asset that we use from SDK and putting into our distribution

so... the most ideal thing is just for valve to fix this on their end. But yes, Steampipe is the ultimate goal in any case
