The new CS look is spectacular! The old Tron style was a little bare-bones, it's a big improvement.
Spellcheck: tesla = incorrect. Suggestions: Tesla, Tulsa, coleslaw. True story.

As far as i know you have to use paypal for donations. Creating a paypal account takes no time at all and it only takes a day or 2 to get your bank account confirmed to paypal.

We looked at it, and it will create more problems than it is worth. Sorry, we only accept Paypal.

Am I the only one who seems underwhelmed by the release?
Three maps? Is that all? With only two of them not having being played on the public servers by Dystopia players.

Don't get me wrong but how long has it been since V1 came out?
I'll still play v2 but no official release of Infect, Fusion, Desert etc with it?
Will the wait for the next truly new and never seen before maps to come along be of Duke Nukem Forever proportions?

Oh god, I have a feeling you're going to get flamed a good amount.

Let me tell you a little story. Somewhere between December of 2005 and December 2006, one coder, 2 full time level designers, no artists and a host of other people trying their best to put good content came out with Version 1. It took a lot of communication, a crap ton of free time, and upwards of an eighth of each of our paychecks.

When Version 1 was finally released in February 2007, two very important people from the team decided to move on in the world. This left a group of people who were underpaid, overworked and stretched thin in time. For the first 5 or so months, many of us took a break, because it had been 3 years of development for some, or 1 and a half years for others. It was time to check out for a while, play some TF2, and generally enjoy not having to pay extravagant amounts of money.

Until the time came in which we made the switch over to a new server, got a team of 3 core people upgraded to 6 people, and began work on 1.2 -- In August, 2007. It wasn't until early October of 2007 that we had large changes built in, that we could begin refining our philosophy of what we wanted in 1.2. Slowly, old maps began to get more polish, more updates and all maps received art assets.

It's roughly only been a year of development, but we had to take a break. And for not having a full team until about a month ago (we went from 6 people to about 15) I think thats saying a lot.

I'll give you a short answer right out; We worked our butts off on this, and making it possible for people to play. If you're not satisfied.

Buzz off.

Too much to quote.

Only when I get to play the new release can I find out how much satisfaction I get.

Underwhelmed yes, I think I recall on these forums one of the dev team saying something like less than 4 maps or so would be a disappointment.
Don't quote me however, and I cannot be bothered looking it up on the forums somewhere.

Flame away. I dislike TF2 as well.

Fusion is being worked on as a 3pm map.. as it's always been.. iircc, fedio was offered a dev spot, which he turned down..

As for desert.. it's released. What good is an official release going to do? (aside from the whole making it a non-3pm map thing) I agree it could be included in the 1.2 release.. but think about what u-c just said.. they've been working on this for ages.. there's more to it than some 3rd party maps.

Aside from maps, try looking at the changelog from 1.1 to 1.2.. there's a heap of shit fixed in there, dude, there's more to a mod than maps. :)

Its not v2 it is v1.2

I still agree we can never have enough maps, but seriously, its not an easy thing to just "make a map" it takes YEARS.

Definitely not all. Where the update says the old maps have been revisited, trust me, that's not a statement to be taken lightly. :P As a long-time mapper for the mod I can easily say I have never been more excited and proud of the quality than what we're pushing out in 1.2.

V1.2 I always keep forgetting that.

In my opinion the meat of Dystopia is its maps and without new maps, Dystopia just becomes skin and bones. 3rd party maps have a way of becoming official ones if they are good eneough (see Fortress). 150 bugs fixed is a great thing I agree.

Maybe my views will change when I get to play 1.2, only time will tell.
