I myself haven't done any page protecting and, to me, it looks as if the French page is still unprotected.

tr0mb0ne wrote:is the french page locked or something? i noticed a few things that didn't look right, i know that there were some fluently french people who looked at it, but some things could be changed IMO, for example:

Great Shot
Joli Tir

IIRC that means "Happy Shot", so unless it's a french expression I've never heard of, i think it's wrong

a minor one, but "pistolet smartlock" should be "pistolets smartlock"

anyway i'd make these dits myself but the page said something like "begin noedit zone" so i dont want to touch it...

I think "Joli Tir" is the best translation for "great shot"
And yes, "pistolets smartlock", with an S :)

I don't think we're supposed to translate the names of Weapons, Implants, and ... Something else

About the Spanish... how about 2 of 'em 1 American and one European.
(you did it for korean...)

since they have MANY MANY MANY differences, unlike the 3 Main English (dialects?) wich have mostly the same rules and gramatical guidelines.

And if the problem is STEAM changing it automaticly, why not have an IN-GAME varaible to change it. basicly making the Dystopia lenguage independednt from STEAM's settings.

i found it weird this Korean language, why making a Teen version of it? Is not like Korean Teens become from l337 Hax0rz to serious businessmen because of the dialect they talk until a certain age.

As far as I know, team Dystopia doesn't have any linguist or etymologist so this is probably not the place to ask.

And are there any other Korean players? or at least a massive amount of them? To keep standards and fairness I say we put just the original Korean.

I looked it upp and decided to call bolts "pilar" or arrows, cause noone knows what a "skäkta" is. But I knew someone would change it. "Bult" is bolt as in screws and bolts, the guy who choose "Bult must of been a idiot or really confused.

Im not confused or an idiot :x I didn't choose I suggested.
Have you never heard of the word "Bultpistol" .
What do you think such a gun fires?
Bolt = Nails and Screws
In construction work it fires bolts into concrete, wood and even steel.
It's also used in slaughterhouses to kill animals.

Yeah, it's a Steam problem. The Steam games have a european Spanish option, and there's no way to add more till Valve does it. We could translate it to american Spanish, I guess, but it would piss off players who've been playing the rest of the steam games in their own dialect. And so far, most of the Spanish-speaking Dys players are from Spain, afaik (Rxxistance).

The differences aren't as huge as you're saying. It's just very noticeable, but we can understand each other nevertheless :P

Yeah, that would be great, but I don't think it's possible. You can easily edit the translation's .txt and replace it, however :P Although you'd have to do that in every mod if you wanted all of them to be in american Spanish.

That sounds like a nailgun and you can load nails into a "bultpistol".
That kinda makes it special kind of nailgun.
Boltgun ≠ Nailgun

A bolt gun is basically a large nail gun that shoot charged capacitors...

The Boltgun is a 'Crossbow of the Future', I always figured. Crossbows fire crossbow bolts, so someone who speaks swedish would probably draw the right idea from something that comes from that meaning of the word 'bolt', rather than the 'construction' sense of the word.

there was this guy i used to know, he was a short, high pitched, dumb piece of shit who was in grade 10 and didn't know his multiplication tables

plus his dad buys him every console and every new computer than comes out

anyway i remember he talking about dystopia and he said it was stupid because the boltgun "was a total ripoff of the crossbow from hl2"

i would have gone over and punched him in his face for being such a god damned idiot but there were about 3 teachers around

teacher: is it going to electrocute me?
me: no.
teacher: ok then.
:!:

after writing: i'm not lying if i say that i knew a guy just like that.
he's short, talks way too much (about shit) and has a well founded reputation for making up implausibly tall stories (also about shit).

Hi, I'm new here, but I've had previous MediaWiki experience. I helped work on the DysInformation Community Portal a couple days ago, and it now shows which languages are done and which ones need work. So...yeah. It'd be nice if Fuzzy could edit the first post and delete:

French
Spanish
Dutch

They're basically complete. A few more are "unofficially" done, too:

German
Russian
Japanese
Chinese (Traditional)
Swedish
Danish

So...yeah. Keep up the good work!

I'm just protecting the pages as people say the translations are done. If you see a spelling error or something, feel free to correct it.

The lightnin' rod is like a physgun. A little beam of electricity connect between the gun and the object. Primary fire and alternate fire will either pull the object towards you, or push it away (so you can yo-yo it back and forth). It also does damage to other players.

The only Swedish I know comes from the Muppets, so take the below with a grain of salt. In English, the device used in a slaughterhouse is known as a "captive bolt gun" or "captive bolt pistol", so in that respect bultpistol sounds correct to me. Another (apparently more correct) name for crossbow ammunition is a "quarrel" - I don't know if this provides any inspiration one way or another. Of course "bolt" works as a play on words between crossbow bolt and lightning bolt, and this play on words just may not translate.
